Super Warm and Light Nights

Posted 05/07/2018

Unless you've been on Mars you will have noticed that we have had a 'bumper' summer! 2018 will go down in the memory as one of Scotland's warmest summers. As a country not geared up for this kind of prolonged heat (with very few UK homes having Air Conditioning) many of us are suffering some uncomfortable nights' sleep. Even with the windows open it can still be so warm that a good nights sleep can be difficult to achieve. Cold water bottles, light pyjamas (or none) and/or fans are all decent solutions.

However, one of the many things that you can do to ensure that your bedroom stays as cool as possible is to leave your blinds or shutters closed throughout the day. This makes sure that the windows don't become too much of a 'radiator' and through heat into your room. Heat that can often be difficult to lose as the bedroom is, generally, in the upper floors of the home and the heat will tend to 'live uptsairs'.

Another tip to try and make sure that you get a good nights sleep is to make sure that you have the best possible Blackout Blinds possible. Sometimes in Scotland, during the summer months, it can be light right up to 11pm sometimes. Couple this alongside a sunrise of around 4am that doesn't leave much 'night light' to allow you to get the amount of sleep you need.

At Twice as Nice Blinds and Shutters we install Blinds and Shutters that suit your environment and situation. We have enough experience in the industry to make sure that we ask all the right questions. Those questions, and subsequent answers, ensure that we always find you the right solution for you and your family.
